Stuff costs money and it doesn't take a teenager very long to figure this out and start wanting cash of his own. Teenagers are always looking for was to make some money. Sometimes it's hard to find a job, especially without any experience. Even if they do find a job, they rarely enjoy it or even make very much money.

A job is the first place most teenagers look to start making money. This isn't always viable. Sometimes it's hard to find a job and if they do, they often don't get many hours. Another idea is to start a small business. Some teens and kids have started small businesses that grew into successful corporations.

A small business doesn't have to turn into a million dollar corporation in order to be considered successful. It can start small and remain small and still make you money consistently. Babysitting, lawn mowing, and a paper route are just a few of the most common small business ideas for teenagers.

They aren't often thought of as businesses, but that is exactly what they are. By babysitting, you are offering a service of caring for your clients kids. You charge them a fee per hour. This is a business. The same goes for mowing lawns, you are offering a service of cut grass to your clients for a fee.

If you treat your business like a business you will be able to be more profitable. Promote your business as a business to friends and family. Tell everyone that you are now available for babysitting or to mow a lawn and use set fees, fliers, and other ideas to make yourself look professional. By getting your name out their and looking professionally you will gain credibility. By doing a good job, you will gain even more credibility and your clients will start referring you to their friends and people they know.

You don't have to stick with just the basics if you are looking to start a business. Babysitting isn't for everyone. Try selling snacks, candy, and/or drinks around a neighborhood, at parks, and in small towns and cities. You could even try selling candy and things to friends at school, but make sure you won't get in trouble.

Do you do very well in school? Even if you just do very well in one or two subjects that many other people have trouble in, come up with a tutoring service. Check with your school to see if it's okay to advertise it to your classmates first. You can charge by the hour or half hour, or you can charge a discounted rate for tutoring a small group of 3 or 4. Do some research and studying to come up with excellent tutoring techniques. If you help people get good grades, you'll have a higher demand for customers.

If you want to get a job to make some extra cash you can, but if you don't like jobs, aren't ready, or aren't old enough, consider starting a small business. You might just have entrepreneurship in your blood. Give it a try and be creative in your ideas!
