Some professions get lower rates. An attorney attracts higher rates than an engineer. The rationale for such concessions is that some lines of duty have been proven to be statistically less prone to crashes and accidents.

If you want to know where your vocation falls into and what to do, ask your agent. Just note that each insurer might maintain a slightly different position.

2. Check if there is a group discount for company if it's a large one. Insurance companies offer large organizations some discount in the belief that such would attract members of that organization.

3. Retirees are offered a special discount by a good number of insurance companies. Retired people don't have to drive to work every day. This will effectively lower anybody's mileage.

The details for each insurer may differ but this is certainly a good way to lower your auto insurance cost. You can learn more about eligibility requirements from your agent. And, if your agent tell you they don't have this kind of discount, do your best to report the dramatic change in your mileage. Unless the change in your mileage isn't significant, you should shop for another insurer if you don't get a decent discount.

4. You can get savings of hundreds of dollars on your auto insurance policy by requesting for insurance quotes from insurance quotes sites. The best strategy is to visit not less than five quotes sites and making sure that you give the same (correct) details.

I recommend that you use at least five quotes sites as that will ensure you do not miss out offers not presented by the other sites. This offers you a broader basis for doing better comparisons thereby increasing your chances of better quotes.
