Teen drivers are not seen as good risks by any Florida insurer. Their crash record is so high that many parents will prefer they don't drive until they get older. Most families succeed in keeping them back for only very short while.

It could be very depressing for a child to be the only one among peers who is yet to start driving. Is there a way you can get lower rates for this high risk group and also keep them safer? Following are recommendations that will be of great help whether you're in Florida or not...

Most teens will tell you they are adults once it has to do with privileges. Few of them, though, would ever complain if you insist that they show they've grown old enough for the privilege by taking on some of, or all of, the responsibilities that come with it.

If it makes sense in your circumstance, let them pay for their car insurance or at least bear a part of their auto insurance premium. Whatever suggestions you make thereafter that will help reduce what they pay will be more easily accepted because they're the ones paying and they will also be the ones to benefit from lower Florida car insurance rates.

Your teen driver would be safer and ultimately attract lower rates for their Florida car insurance policy if they do the following...

1) Let them never drive in company of fellow teens or kids unless there is a responsible adult in the car.

2) Let there be an agreement between you and your teenager that they won't drive in the night. If this isn't feasible in your teen's circumstance, teach them what to do and how to conduct themselves in that situation.

Reports show that accidents happen more between the hours of 9.00pm and 2.00am.

3) They must never touch the steering wheel once they've taken any form of alcoholic beverage. For their safety they should not touch the steering wheels even if all they took was just a sip.

4) Let it be ingrained in your teenager that they are not on a race track even when they are on the highway.

Make sure they are grounded if they ever get a speeding ticket.

5) You must always be told where they intend to drive to. And, please, be firm if you think they're better off with a cab or even if you think they should not go there.

I Know these things will really work where you already have a great relationship with your teen. While you're doing those or even if you find them difficult to implement in your case, here's how any teen can get lower auto insurance rates: Get and compare quotes from five or more reputable quotes sites.
