Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has been heavily lobbying Michigan state lawmakers and advertising to the public to pass legislation that will ease regulations on health insurance companies.

BCBS of Michigan is fighting that the law be put in to place, claiming financial disaster if it isn't. They project losing $264 million if it is not, states the Chicago Tribune.
BCBS is not showing any signs of convincing the state legislation of their impending doom, and there is only one month left in their session.
Mike Cox, state Attorney General, thinks that it is not a correct action to push a law through swiftly. He doesn't seem to believe that there is anything that cannot be avoided here.
Cox feels that whether there is a problem or not, it can be stalled until next year's session. Cox says, "There's no reason this can't be done in February or March or April, and done the right way." So it is not looking good for BCBS.
